Will AntiPhorm undermine
legitimate advertising? |
|
This depends on your
definition of legitimate advertising. Most users today are happy to
visit their favorite websites and see ads in exchange for a
non-subscription service. That is a fair exchange that we all benefit
from. Antiphorm does not impact these services. When used in Hidden and Text
only mode, adverts are ignored (not streamed) and none of the sites
visited are ever physically viewed so no one sees anything. In Browser
mode (AntiPhorm TV) however, AntiPhorm Lite displays web pages as they
are meant to be seen - playing videos, streaming ads, and all the other
content you are familiar with. This can actually increase advertising
exposure as users sit back and watch AntiPhorm TV take on a
life of it's own during which they may see far more adverts across a
diverse range of products than they would have done otherwise. So if anything, AntiPhorm will improve this
reach for advertisers, but most importantly without tracking or really knowing what the user is looking at or actually
interested in. So the short answer is no, it will not undermine web page
advertising, as users will still be surfing to their favorite sites as
they do now.
Antiphorm was designed to
give privacy choice
back to the users who want it, to protect their fundamental right to
privacy and not have their every online thought, need or desire, then analyzed, scrutinized and commercialized.
For years we have been bombarded by spam and targeted advertising,and
not enough is being done to protect user privacy rights in this regard.
Most importantly, I doubt
anyone wants their children's habits and thoughts recorded then
manipulated or shared for profit - where are their rights being
considered? That is just wrong, on every level, and I doubt businesses
want their private research disclosed either - where do we stop?. We are
not sure but we know where we should start - Privacy
First!. |

Do I need AntiPhorm? |
|
It depends if you suspect
that your data is being recorded or not. It might not be for everyone,
but those who are looking for that extra piece of protection it
certainly does offer a layer of white noise that is currently wide open
and exposed. If you choose to opt-in to services that record your
information in exchange for adverts they serve you or other offers and
you are clear and comfortable about the information these services
collect about you, then maybe you don't need AntiPhorm. - As we say - At
least now, you have a choice. |

Could AntiPhorm Lite browse
it's way onto any sites with dodgy content? |
|
This is unlikely because you
pre-determine the search criteria and urls you want AntiPhorm Lite to
visit. In any case, running in silent mode AntiPhorm Lite does not access
any content on the web pages it visits, for instance it does not
download images, execute scripts or run videos. No suspect content can
ever reach your machine. |

Are there any security
issues relating to AntiPhorm Lite? Is AntiPhorm Lite safe to use? |

When running in silent mode
AntiPhorm Lite does not execute or download any content of any kind, it
simply parses the HTML code looking for suitable links to navigate to
next. Malicious scripts for instance, never get a chance to run, and all
executable files are ignored. |

What can I do if the
application crashes? |
|
If this occurs pressing CTRL
Shift + Delete together will bring up windows task manager, select
processes find AntiPhorm Lite in the list and manually end the task. |

Can I host the file on my
website? |
|
You may host the entire
file, and distribute it as free software (you cannot charge for this
service in any way) and you cannot modify any
of the original content or original install in any way - You must also
include a link to AntiPhorm.com. Please Note: We are constantly updating
AntiPhorm so be sure to update your site with the most recent updates.

Will AntiPhorm Lite interfere
with my web browsing or affect my bandwidth? |
|
AntiPhorm Lite has no
noticeable effect on your browsing whatsoever. In silent mode
AntiPhorm Lite uses very little processor time and extremely little
bandwidth because it never does anything more than download the HTML
source of any web page and ignores all of the bandwidth heavy images,
flash and video. While running in browser mode,
AntiPhorm Lite works through your default
browser, simply run a second browser which is not set as your default,
for example Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Netscape etc. |

Will AntiPhorm Lite slowdown
my computer? |
|
No. AntiPhorm Lite takes up
very little of your CPU and memory |

Will AntiPhorm Lite cause any
issues with my firewall or antivirus software? |
|
If you use a firewall, for
instance Zonealarm, you may have to use it's settings to allow
AntiPhorm Lite access to the internet. However, this should already be
set through your default internet browser settings. There are no known issues with
anti virus software. |

Can I run AntiPhorm Lite when
I'm not browsing and still confuse the net trackers? |
|
Absolutely yes. The more you
use it, the less visible the signature of your actual browsing will
become, especially when combined with customized databases.. |

Will AntiPhorm Lite be
available as screensaver activated application? |
|
We're working on it. We
expect to have it released in the next update. |

Do I need to do anything
after AntiPhorm Lite is installed? |
|
Just run it and go and watch
TV if you want. Someone somewhere will assume you like to shop for red
shoes and caravans and be rubbing their hands with glee. |

Can AntiPhorm Lite crash my
computer? |
|
It's possible although
highly unlikely, and we've never witnessed any crashes that have done
so. |

Why does it keep
crashing? |
|
You may not have DirectX
9.0C or later installed. Also check you have the latest drivers for your
hardware. If it still continues to crash, email us and we will work with
you to resolve the issue. We are continuing to work on revisions to
cover any issues. |

Do I need to empty my
browser cache regularly after using AntiPhorm Lite ? |
|
Depending upon your settings
you may wish to delete cookies and url's from your browser cache. |

Is using AntiPhorm Lite legal? |

Absolutely. AntiPhorm lite
is simply a surfing simulator. Nothing more. As far as anyone
else is concerned you are simply browsing the internet across a range of
you pre-determined options, If someone wants to record that information
and use it then you certainly made the right choice in installing
AntiPhorm. . |

Can I run more than one
instance of AntiPhorm Lite? |
|
Yes, but it is not
recommended as we have not tested thoroughly enough the resources this
may take up on your PC, but you can easily browse the internet while
AntiPhorm Lite is running in console or hidden mode. |

How do I update AntiPhorm
Lite when new versions become available? |
|
Updates will periodically be
available for download from AntiPhorm.com. Simply uninstall the old
version using the uninstall option in the Start menu,(?) and install the
new version. |
